Lower School Music Teacher
Trinity School
Lower School Music Teacher (program build) Trinity School is an outstanding elementary day school serving preschool to Grade 5 in Menlo Park, CA. Located across the street from Stanford and on Sand Hill Road, Trinity is a purposefully small school and has partnered with parents for over fifty years to grow children, one at a time, into motivated and capable problem solvers with big hearts. Trinity seeks a Part-Time Lower School Music Teacher (K-5) starting as soon as possible to further build the program with a strong possibility of this role increasing to a Full-time position for the school year 2019/2020. The K - 5th-grade music program seeks to nurture a love of music and provide children with a firm understanding of musical concepts and skills. The program is currently focused on vocal skills, but the school is looking to develop a strong ORFF-inspired program designed to bring these elements to life through songs, movement, games, listening, rhythmic work and ORFF methodology in the next school year. The new music teacher will be the catalyst for this program construction and professional development opportunities will be available. The ideal candidate will have a strong musical background that includes both teaching and performing. Community performances and music within Chapel are an important part of the Lower School music program and are organized and accompanied by the music teacher. The successful candidate will have a collaborative spirit, an interest in building community within and beyond the classroom, a strong commitment to nurturing children’s individual talents and passions. Additional duties include collaborating with teachers as needed, organizing our Lower School community performances (Spring sing, Holiday Program, etc.). A degree in Music Education (or comparable degree), experience in the ORFF-Schulwerk, and Lower School teaching experience. Position ideally begins immediately but we are also open to application for school year 2019/2020. Please send a current resume and a letter of interest to Colette McWilliams, Academic Dean @Colette McWilliams
